On Friday, April 17, "Our Story" History Club, Art Department, and the Associated Student Government at Madera Community College led by MCC History faculty and club advisor Dr. Hagop Ohanessian, Art instructors Kamy Martinez and Cristina Velasquez took a field trip to Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. Forty-one students had that opportunity to learn about the Hearst family by participating in the grand room’s tour. It consisted of the main building called Casa Grande (Big House): the Assembly Room, Refectory, Morning Room, Billiard Room and Theater. The tour began outdoors up several stairs to the terraces with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. Students and faculty also witnessed the outdoor Neptune and indoor Roman pools.

🏳️🌈 Madera Community College proudly hosted its Annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on June 2, bringing together Trustee Rodriguez, students, faculty, administrators, and community partners in celebration of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
This year's event marked our largest turnout yet, reflecting MCC's continued commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive environment where all students feel valued and respected.
A special thank you to our community partners—Imperial Dove Court de Fresno, Community Link, Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade & Festival, and Reel Pride Fresno Film Festival—for helping make this meaningful event possible.
Together, we continue to build a campus community where everyone belongs. 💙
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a historic day at Madera Community College’s Agave Innovation Center! 🌱
On June 1, faculty, students, local farmers, and community volunteers came together to plant the first five acres of agave on campus—an exciting milestone for our agricultural research and workforce development efforts.
Your support is helping advance sustainable agriculture, hands-on learning, and innovative solutions for California’s future. We’re grateful for every volunteer who helped make this achievement possible.
Stay tuned as we continue growing this project and look ahead to producing our first batch of mezcal this fall!
