WOW! What an incredible way to start the day!

Foundation waterproofing and drainage barrier installed. Given that we backfill our foundations with almost entirely 1 inch washed gravel, this yelllw drainage barrier will not actually function for drainage, but for us it is a protective layer to keep the waterproofing pristine.

Other builders who backfill with mostly soil, need the drainage plane to allow water to go down the foundation wall to the drain tile. That being said, I would be shocked if these drainage boards would not silt in within just a couple years and lose that functionality - which is why we use so much gravel for our foundation backfill.

It’s not a matter of what works when we’re done building, or in a year or two. We are building homes that should perform for decades, if not generations into the future…
