Behind every performance is someone helping make the magic happen. We sat down with Julia Morrison to talk about leadership, creativity, and the role the arts play in building community.

"I tell everything that if you really want the arts to thrive, take a chance on something new on a Friday night. Your homework is to go downtown and have fun by surprising yourself."

The first weekend of June is looking pretty artsy. See local artists, celebrate Rhonda Sunshine Miller at The Bohemian Den, then dance until 1 a.m. at The Hummingbird. That's range.

Spotted in downtown Macon: film crews, production trucks, and “The Comeback King” turning city blocks into movie scenes. 🍿

Downtown feels a little emptier now that they've packed up and rolled out. We already miss the chaos.

Fresh Cherry Bombs have landed. Part Hollywood, part international, and yet, all local.

We’re all too eager to brag on Matt Odom, both for what he captures through his lens and for what he represents. His style is impeccable, and others have noticed, besides regular stints in Macon Magazine and Georgia Trend, he’s stretched his wings in assignments for National Geographic, The New York Times, and the Equal Justice Initiative, among many others. But this Macon native and Mercer grad hasn’t forgotten Unionville, and he’s still capturing friends and neighbors as much as celebrities and politicians. Recently selected for the nationally juried American Photography 42 hardcover book, Odom told us why he’s still part of the “hometown team.”

Watch Matt in a documentary series, “Colors of Atlanta,” streaming online. And don’t forget to catch up with him at your favorite Macon Magazine event.
