Some useful takeaways I’ve shared with customers this week:

1. Eero pro routers only have 2 ethernet ports, so if you want to do wired back-haul(wire them all back to your internet modem) you will need to use a switch or make sure you run your cabling in a daisy-chain.

2. If you upgrade your version of windows, you may end up with files in a “windows.old” folder so don’t panic if you seem to have lost your data.

3. You don’t need to remember to connect and manually back up your data to an external usb drive or get a “personal cloud” drive. That same regular usb drive can be used by plugging it into your internet modem(most support this) to backup automatically on your network.

I recently had a request to help with an older laptop(2015) that had some general slowdown, battery issues, and other odd behavior.

The vast majority of the time these issues can be fixed with some thorough physical cleaning, wiping and restoring the computer(after making sure you've got all of your data backed up).

After that, if issues persist on a 5+ year old PC, it's generally wiser to get a new device(after cloning your drive properly) and repurposing/reselling your old PC.
