Good morning! Thanks for all the concern. We are safe with the cats and Murphy at my mom's house in Longmont.

We evacuated on Tuesday afternoon as soon as the mandatory evacuation notice was put in place for Blue Mountain.

Firefighters have made great progress on the Stone Canyon Fire, which is now 20-25% contained.

The ranch is still in the mandatory evacuation zones for BOTH the Stone Canyon Fire (2.5 mi SE) and Alexander Mountain Fire (10mi N). No traffic is allowed up Blue Mountain Road.

My neighbors chose not to evacuate yet, so I am *extremely* grateful to them for checking on my chickens. No shelters are accepting poultry due to the risk of Avian Flu.

Luckily we have a safe yard for them and multiple large feeders and waterers, so they should be ok for a while. I am trying to make arrangements to get more chicken feed up to them.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by these fires, especially my neighbors in Stone Canyon.

Hi friends and neighbors!

We are temporarily pausing egg sales while we revamp our coops with new feeding systems and nesting boxes.

The ladies are happy and healthy and laying well!

Packing, sorting, and washing eggs just takes time we don't have right now with this project, garden planting, battling invasive weeds, and other urgent repairs.

They're baaaaaaack!

Our new hens have been laying, and we are able to regularly stock full sized eggs again!

It's orchard planting time!

Did you miss last Saturday's tree planting, but still want to take advantage of earning a FREE fruit share for life*?

Join us this Sunday, May 7th for a follow up planting day! 10am - finish. Snacks and a late lunch (local grass fed beef burgers) will be provided.

We will be adding 11 additional fruit trees, as well as multiple berry bushes and native nitrogen fixers in between the trees.

Do your rhubarb plants, hops rhizomes, berry canes, or even flowering perennials need dividing? We are also happy to accept any of these types of plants to add to our permaculture "food forest" orchard project.

*"life" refers to the natural fruiting life of the trees, generally around 8-10 years. Fruit trees take 3-4 years to reach fruiting maturity.

Smash, Don't Trash!

Not sure what do do with your leftover carved pumpkins from Halloween?

Diamond K Farm and Ranch will be accepting donations of carved or un-carved pumpkins, squash, and decorative gourds - pumpkin guts included! Please no painted pumpkins or plastic decorations.

Chickens and turkeys love squash of all kinds (including the guts!) The added nutrient burst is especially appreciated this time of year, as they prepare for a cold winter. Whatever the birds don't eat will be composted and added to next year's gardens.

Individual drop off any time at 31 Open Range Road in Lyons (up Blue Mountain Road.)
