The Lynn Human Rights Commission elected Commissioner Enmanuel โ€œMannyโ€ Villegas as its new Chair.

Chairman Villegas brings a strong background of service and leadership to this role. As a pastor and officer with the Lynn Salvation Army Corps, he has dedicated his time to supporting individuals and families in need, including overseeing food pantry services and other vital community programs.

He has been an active member of the Lynn Human Rights Commission for over two years, and his experience, compassion, and commitment to the community position him well to lead the Commission in this next chapter.

The Lynn Human Rights Commission is pleased to welcome Commissioner Villegas as Chairman and looks forward to continuing its work to promote equity, inclusion, and human rights for all residents of Lynn under his leadership.

Applicant are expected to commit to a monthly meeting and sub-committee meetings. We invite volunteers with sincere passion to advocate for human rights and experience with this topic to apply. The goal of the Lynn Human Rights Commission is to build relationships within our diverse community to promote civil rights, inclusion and mutual respect. We aim to utilize legal means to ensure protection, address unlawful discrimination and provide education about human rights in the City of Lynn. Tonightโ€™s meeting was a special one for the Lynn Human Rights Commission.

While we say farewell, it is certainly not goodbye to Councilor Jordan T. Avery - Ward 7 Lynn MA. Jordan has served on the Human Rights Commission for over 10 years combined first as a dedicated Commissioner and, over the last 4+ years, as Chairman. His leadership, commitment, and unwavering dedication to justice, equity, and inclusion for our community.

We are deeply grateful for his time, service, and the countless hours he has devoted to advancing human rights in Lynn. Although he now steps into his role as City Councilor, we know we can count on him to continue supporting the Lynn Human Rights Commission and the important work we do.

Thank you, Jordan, for your leadership and service. Your presence on this Commission will be missed, but your partnership will continue.

Tonight also marked an exciting new beginning as we congratulated and officially welcomed our newest Commissioner, Stanley Wotring, to the Lynn Human Rights Commission. We look forward to working together as we continue strengthening our mission and serving the residents of Lynn.
