🌤️ Evening Update

I ran out of steam before getting the full forecast put together this evening. 😄

Just a quick heads up...

Tomorrow afternoon could briefly turn a bit breezy to gusty...25-30mph as the upper level low moves through and brings our active weather.

If you haven't already, be sure to check out the previous post for the latest on thunderstorm potential. We'll be monitoring the radar and the latest model data throughout the day and will keep you updated. ⛈️

Looking ahead, summer makes a comeback this weekend as temperatures begin warming again. And if the weather models are right, next week is looking toasty. ☀️🌡️

Ugh! To our south near Pendleton, OR

✅ 21:05 Wednesday - This fire is now contained and is in the mop up stage.

🔥 20:30 Wednesday - Several hundred acres of wheat are burning along I-84 west of Pendleton. The highway is a little wet from rain but there wasn’t enough to wet the vegetation.

A strong thunderstorm impacting the Winthrop area around 6 PM tonight. The NWS has added a special weather statement to this storm.

A lot of smoke checks and some new wildfires reported on WildCAD for Central OR. We shall see how many of these become new starts.

☀️ Wednesday Afternoon Check In

It's still summer! 😎

Current temperatures are ranging from the 70s near the waterways to the mid 80s inland.

Dew points (shown in blue) are running in the mid 50s to around 60, making the air feel a little stuffy.

High clouds have also begun moving into the area.

Thunderstorm update for Thursday-Friday AM: There is a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow PM/overnight into Friday AM in our area. Whatcom County keeps showing up in the EURO data for the chance of a storm, especially later in the evening on Thursday. High-res models are not as impressed. Mountains have the best chance, but the lowlands do too!

Will it happen? I don't know, but I will let you know if it did or didn't on Friday! :)

Be prepared for the possibility of thunderstorms, but around here it is almost always a nowcast.

7-15-26 2:50 PM - first storm of today in the mountains heading towards I-90 East of Snoqualmie Pass. We will be monitoring storms over the next couple of days.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 11 PM PDT THURSDAY FOR LIGHTNING AND GUSTY OUTFLOW WINDS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 652, 658, 659, AND 661...

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Red Flag
Warning for lightning and gusty outflow winds, which is in effect
from 1 AM to 11 PM PDT Thursday. The Fire Weather Watch is no
longer in effect.

The SPC has us under a general thunderstorm threat today, but I think the mountains would be the main target for those storms. Tomorrow looks to have all of us under the chance of thunderstorms- more on that in a later post.
