Celebrate Juneteenth with a special book from our display at the library! Explore books for all ages that honor Black history, culture, resilience, and freedom while learning more about the significance of this important day.

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth is recognized as a celebration of freedom, community, and African American history and achievements.
