Senior Spotlight! 🎓🙌

Kacy Bass is a senior Agricultural and Applied Economics/General Business major from Pearl, Texas. Kacy has been a member of the ranch horse team for four years and has served on the marketing committee as well as this year’s vice president. Throughout her time on the team, she has aimed to contribute leadership and creativity both in and out of the arena.

After graduation, Kacy plans to continue working as the digital media coordinator for De-aX Trailer Sales while also starting her own marketing business focused on the western industry.

“My favorite part of being on the ranch horse team has been the opportunities the team has given me to grow my future career goals and horsemanship skills, while also building lifelong friendships with people of incredible integrity.”

Jordan Rydl is a senior Animal Science major at Texas Tech. Originally from Boone, Iowa, Jordan has been a member of the ranch horse team for three years and has also served on the team’s marketing committee.

After graduation, Jordan plans to begin working for the American Quarter Horse Association while continuing to show.

Henry Birdwell is a senior General Business major at Texas Tech. Originally from Aledo, Texas, Henry has been a member of the ranch horse team for four years and served as this year’s team president. Throughout his time on the team, he has aimed to help strengthen the culture and community of the program.

After graduation, Henry plans to continue working in the western industry as a sales representative for Halter, a virtual fencing company, in Texas!

🐗𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐌𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐠🐗

Brooks is a freshman from Claude, Texas, majoring in Animal Science. He grew up on his family’s yearling and cow-calf operation. While he has limited show experience, Brooks is excited to learn and compete as part of the team. His favorite thing about the team is the opportunity to surround himself with like-minded people who share the same passion for horses.

Brooks will be showing 𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐠, aka “Boss Hog.” He is a three-year-old gelding and one of the first c**ts Brooks’ family has raised. Boss Hog is by the late Pepcid and proudly carries the Myers Cattle Company brand. He may be a little horse, but he has a big heart.

Harper is a freshman from Tucson, Arizona, majoring in Animal Science. She grew up showing AQHA and VRH and started showing NRCHA last year. Outside of the arena, Harper enjoys wakeboarding and riding dirt bikes with her family when she’s home. Her favorite thing about the team is how driven and supportive all her teammates are.

Harper will be showing 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐈𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞, aka “Becca.” She is a 12-year-old mare sired by Olena Oak out of Spookin In Time. Harper has had Becca since she was 14!

Jack is a sophomore from McLean, Texas, majoring in Agricultural Leadership. He grew up on a ranch but didn’t start showing horses until he got to college. A fun fact about Jack is that he has a dog that can sing. His favorite thing about the team is how everyone is goal-oriented and always striving to get better every day.

Jack will be showing 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫, aka “Jacki Chan.” He is an 8-year-old gelding and was the first c**t his mare ever had. He is also the first horse Jack ever started. Before coming to college, he was used on the ranch for day-to-day cowboying.
