Today marks the first official day of summer!
Did you know that in the summertime, one of the best things to snack on is watermelon? Watermelon is made up of 92% water, so it is a great way to have a refreshing snack while staying hydrated. So as it starts heating up outside, don't forget to drink lots of water, load up on sunscreen, and eat some watermelon!

This month, we honor those living with Alzheimer's, support their caregivers, and raise awareness about the importance of brain health. TTUHSC recently teamed with R.H. Pickering Family Foundation and the Garrison Institute on Aging Memory Care Clinic to host the R.H. Pickering Memorial Golf Tournament, benefiting patients and families of those with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other age-related neurological conditions. The proceeds from this tournament help strengthen the services provided at the Garrison Institute on Aging Comprehensive Memory Clinic. We are so grateful to those who came out to support this amazing cause!

Today, we are so excited to highlight TTUHSC Alumni, and Founder and Owner of NOSH Pediatric Feeding Therapy, Courtney Lewis!
Courtney discovered at a young age that her passion in life was Occupational Therapy. She turned her passion into action after graduating with her Master's in Occupational Therapy in 2012, and founded NOSH, a family-centered, play-based therapeutic approach that helps infants, children, and teens overcome feeding challenges, in 2023. We were fortunate enough to get in contact with Courtney to discuss her time at TTUHSC and her life as an OT and business owner. When asked about what the most rewarding part of her job was, Courtney said, "I absolutely live for celebrating the small wins! A child exploring a new food for the first time. A parent taking a breath at the dinner table instead of holding it in. A family going to their favorite restaurant without worrying if there will be something that their child will actually eat. Those small moments are everything—because for these families, they aren't small at all. They represent weeks, sometimes months, of hard work and trust. Watching these tiny shifts happen is why I do this work."
Thank you, Courtney, for all of your hard work and for being the perfect example of what passion and dedication can do for the Future of Health! If you want to learn more about Courtney's story, scroll through our post below.

When patients, students, and employees approach the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) regional campus in Amarillo, one of the first things they see is a statue of a sleek, black horse with a Double-T emblazoned on its hindquarters. Named "Pride of the Masked Rider," the TTUHSC horse is one of more than 100 similar statues scattered across the city as part of Center City of Amarillo’s “Hoof Prints of the American Quarter Horse” public art project.
