We hate to say it, because it's difficult. But that doesn't mean it's not good to know! When customers report a sudden pest problem after no changes at home, we know to go looking for something like this-- a roof leak or a plumbing problem. Usually our technicians are the first one to find the problem and point it out to the homeowner.
Moisture issues in a home, whether in drywall, insulation, or structure beams (and honestly anywhere else), is the #1 reason customers experience a sudden pest problem when they hadn't had one before. The increase in moisture (and the easy access point provided by the hole in the roof shown in this video) creates a fabulous little spot for pests like ants to move into. If you notice a new group of pests around your home, it's worth taking a good look at your whole home (including the attic, basement, and crawlspace). Or, better yet, call us and have one of our technicians do it for you!
