A dense, atmospheric composition rendered in a restrained palette of beiges, grays, and whites. Occasional bursts of red, teal, and black break through the subdued field, anchoring the eye and asserting a sense of lived presence. Whorled textures and painterly layering lend the surface a sense of weight and depth, evoking a shifting psychological weather. This painting explores the idea of emotional resonance through restraint, allowing color accents to emerge with heightened impact. It's called, "And Then Later, When it gets Dark, We Go Home." 52 x 84 inches, acrylic on canvas.

“How Iron Dome Works” (2011) — a gestural abstraction layered with arcs and impact, capturing the tension of interception in a sky filled with movement. 40 x 30 inches, acrylic on canvas.
In 2011 when I was working on this painting I heard a story on NPR that mentioned Iron Dome, the missile defense system in Israel. I thought it was a dumb name and at the time it seemed pretty obscure. Now, maybe not so much.

Completely Salt Based (2018)—a burst of yellow energy layered with scribbles, soaked textures, and restrained contrast. One of a few pieces where I pushed myself to work with a limited palette, and I’ve always liked where it ended up. 36 x 24 inches, acrylic, Sharpie, and paint marker on unprimed canvas.

Been experimenting with selfies in the studio recently. I'm using the app for my camera, which is a bad app, by the way, to trigger my camera to take the photo using the speedlites (external flashes) that I use for getting the good pictures of my paintings. Hey look, it me!
