In early 2020, just before the pandemic, we were deep in a cold Louisville winter. I (Anthony) was learning the ropes of real estate after spending ten years pursuing acting and musical theatre, while Wesley was preparing to start a new job as a tour guide at Angel’s Envy Distillery. We had just moved back from NYC that December, both starting over, completely broke, and carrying more anxiety than certainty.

One particularly chilly night while I was out, Wesley wrote this song. He sent me a voice note of him singing and playing it on the piano, which I played on repeat until I got home. By then, he had finished writing it. He sat me down and played the entire song for me.

I was immediately taken with it.

At a time when our future felt so unclear, his lyrics resonated deeply, and I knew we had to record it. The song has gone through many iterations over the years, but this stripped down version has always been one of my favorites. Wesley’s vocal performance truly shines here, and I am grateful I had the opportunity to produce it.
