Since it is Women’s History Month, I would like to celebrate something with you today.
Do you know who’s buying more homes in the United States today, single women or single men?
Single women!
For over 10 years now, single women homebuyers have outpaced men by a significant margin.
Now why do I celebrate that? Because…
Women couldn’t own a home individually in Kentucky until 1894.
Women couldn’t obtain loans, mortgages, or credit cards independently until 1974.
Today, women generally have a harder time financing homes due to higher denial rates and higher interest rates.
Despite these hurdles, single women represent the biggest non-family purchaser of homes AND are less likely to default on their mortgages compared to their male counterparts! And they have only been in the game for 50 years!!!
Now THAT is awesome (and what I would call 💪🏼)

If you missed it, here’s a quick rundown:
Effective as of March 1, 2026, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) requires title companies and closing attorneys to collect and (securely) report information about certain non-financed residential real estate transactions. This is to prevent the use of real estate for money laundering, to identify suspicious activity, and to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act. Reporting is only necessary when all 3 of these are true:
1. It is a residential sale.
2. It is being bought by an entity or trust.
3. It’s an all-cash purchase, or financed without a loan from a regulated financial institution.
