🎉 Gidget and Kitty had a busy morning celebrating the Humane Society of Oldham County’s 40th Birthday! 🎉

These two rescue girls were wonderful breed ambassadors and enjoyed meeting so many kind people. They soaked up plenty of attention, tail wags, and compliments along the way. 💜

Kitty treated herself to a pedicure with our friends at Scruffy to Fluffy KY, and her nails are looking fabulous! 💅🐾 She also took a spin through the lure course and had an absolute blast. According to Kitty, it would have been even more exciting if her foster mom hadn’t insisted on making her drag a leash the whole time. 🤣

For sweet little Gidget, this was her very first public outing since being hospitalized, and she did amazing! With so many new sights, sounds, smells, and people, she handled everything like a champ. We couldn’t be more proud. ❤️

Kitty is currently available for adoption! Read more about her by clicking the link below:

🐾💙 Happy Adoption Sunday! 💙🐾

We are overjoyed to share that Jerry has found his perfect forever home!

Jerry’s story began in heartbreaking circumstances. He and his brother, Tom, were abandoned outside in a plywood enclosure in rural Kentucky. When local animal control reached out and asked if Bluegrass Doberman Rescue could help, we were thankful to be able to say yes. Before long, these sweet boys were on their way to a much brighter future.

Today, Jerry is living the life every Doberman deserves. He absolutely adores his people and keeps them entertained with his goofy Doberman antics. His family wouldn’t have it any other way! Recently, Jerry discovered life on the lake and has become quite the boating enthusiast. His mom says he loves feeling the wind flap through his ears while cruising the water. Swimming? He’s still deciding how he feels about that. But boat life is definitely his jam!

Stories like Jerry’s are exactly why we do what we do. Because of a dedicated foster, we’re able to give Jerry the second chance he deserved.

Interested in becoming a foster? When you open your home, you help us say “yes” to another Doberman in need. And remember, fosters always get first choice to adopt their foster dog!

If Kitty isn’t supervising rescue yard sales, you can usually find her and her foster out on some kind of weekend adventure! Today, Kitty was on a mission to beat the heat, enjoying a trip to the farmers market and Art in the Park. Everywhere she went, people stopped to admire her, commenting on how beautiful and well-behaved she is.

Kitty truly shines when she has a job to do. This smart, driven girl is looking for a home with working-breed experience and an adopter who wants to channel her energy and intelligence into something productive. Agility, obedience, scent work, Kitty has the potential to excel in any of them!

She already knows the basics and is ready for someone who wants to continue her training and help her reach her full potential. If you’re active and looking for a Doberman partner who will keep you engaged, motivated, and challenged in the best ways, Kitty could be the perfect match.

🆘Donations Needed for Gidget🆘

💔❤️‍🩹Gidget’s story is one that will tug at your heartstrings.❤️‍🩹💔

This sweet 7-month-old puppy came to BDR just one day before she was scheduled to be euthanized. (See video in comments) She arrived with an old injury that we believe was caused by being struck by a vehicle, resulting in a fractured pelvis. At first, we thought that was the extent of her medical needs.

Sadly, it wasn’t.

Gidget was extremely lethargic and much smaller than a typical puppy her age. We searched for answers, suspecting everything from a liver shunt to Addison’s disease, but test after test came back normal. Then Gidget suddenly took a turn for the worse. She stopped getting up, couldn’t keep food down, and was rushed to the emergency hospital.

There, we learned her kidneys were failing.

The outlook was grim, but we weren’t going to give up on her. Gidget deserved a chance.

After 4 days of intensive hospitalization and around-the-clock care, this little fighter began showing signs of improvement. By day 5, we were finally able to bring her home.

While we are overjoyed with her progress, her medical journey is far from over. Gidget will require expensive prescription kidney food, along with bi-weekly bloodwork and urinalysis to closely monitor her kidney function and ensure she continues moving in the right direction.

Her emergency hospital stay alone totaled $4,720.93.

If you’re able to help, please consider making a donation toward Gidget’s care. Every dollar makes a difference. If you can’t donate, please like, comment, and share this post to help us reach more people.

Despite everything she has endured, Gidget has remained nothing but sweet and loving. Throughout her hospital stay, all she wanted to do was give kisses. She is fighting hard, and we’re committed to fighting right alongside her.

💜 Donate today and help us give Gidget the future she deserves. 💜

🐾 1yr old Female, Doberman
📋Spayed & Fully Vetted
🐶Good with Large Breed Dogs
🐈 No Cats
👧🏼 Kids 10yr+
🚧Fully Fenced Backyard Required

This stunning 1-year-old red Doberman is ready to find her perfect match! Maggie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventatives. She’s more than ready to head to her forever home.

Maggie is a bundle of fun and energy who brings joy everywhere she goes. She’s great with large dogs and does well with kiddos, making her a wonderful companion for an active family. Maggie is mostly deaf and can only hear high-pitched tones, so she’ll need a family committed to continuing her training and helping her thrive with clear communication, consistency, and structure.

Because of her high prey drive, Maggie will need a home without cats or small dogs. She also requires a physically fenced yard where she can safely run, play, and burn off her energy—this girl loves to move!

Maggie’s ideal family is one that embraces an active lifestyle and is excited to continue guiding her into becoming the very best Doberman she can be. In return, she’ll give you endless love, loyalty, and plenty of fun along the way.

💜 Adopt Kitty 💜

Please read FULL BIO before applying!

Kitty Details

• Located in Louisville, KY
• Born 10/7/2025
• Spayed, Microchipped, UTD on Vaccines & Preventatives
• Does okay with large breed active dogs
• No cats or small dogs
• Prefer active adult-only home (teenagers who understand her needs considered)
• Potty/Crate Trained when offered frequent trips outside
• Physically Fenced Yard Required

Kitty is the quintessential working Doberman. This girl is young, high energy, exceptionally intelligent, and needs direction for her vigor. She will not be a couch potato or a snuggle bug—she thrives with a schedule, mental stimulation, and purpose.

Kitty is an amazing dog. She walks well on a leash and is potty/crate trained when kept on a schedule that includes frequent trips outside. She is driven, intense, and full of potential. If you’re looking for a partner and a Doberman who will challenge you in all the best ways, Kitty is your girl.

One of Kitty’s best qualities is how well she does in public. She enjoys getting out and about and would make a fabulous companion for someone who likes to take their dog everywhere dogs are welcome. Whether it’s training classes, outdoor events, pet-friendly stores, or daily adventures, Kitty is happiest when she has a job to do and a person to do it with.

Kitty’s drive needs an adopter with an understanding of working-breed behavior. Professional training will enhance her life and the family who adopts her. She has been through puppy obedience training, and this sort of structure is critical for a dog with Kitty’s intelligence and energy.

Kitty is located in Louisville, Kentucky. While out-of-state adopters are welcome, they must come meet Kitty in person to finalize her adoption.
