It’s been a busy week for Danner Racing! Firstly, Otago started things off by winning at Churchill, followed by Stargazzers Dream and The Hund running good seconds in their respective races. Then first time starter, 2 year old filly Indigyat, won her first start, a MSW at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Thursday! Her win was another special win for the barn, as she was broke and all her training was done with Danner Racing. Congratulations to all the connections.

While the KY Oaks may be over, Derby week isn’t over for all of Danner Racing. Stable pony RJ will be working all day today at Churchill Downs with NBC and Donna Brothers! A vital part of the team in the mornings, RJ is getting his weekend of fame in the afternoons for a change! Catch him assisting in the interview process after every stakes race and the KY Derby today!

While it wasn’t the desired result, it was an honor to be able to participate in such a historic event as the Kentucky Oaks! Lovely Grey took a big step up moving into Grade I company and changing surfaces, and we look forward to more races with her! Congratulations to the owners and entire team.

From baling twine to the Oaks, trainer Kelsey Danner finds her way home with Lovely Grey Before she ever saddled a horse here, before she ever dreamed of walking one over on Kentucky Oaks Day, Kelsey Danner was tethered to Churchill Downs.
LOVELY GREY IS OFFICIALLY IN THE KY OAKS!! She will be Danner Racing’s first starter in the elite race!

First 2 year old starter of 2026 = first 2 year old winner of 2026 for Danner Racing! Sharpie Girl showed she was ready for the challenge, going gate to wire at Keeneland on Wednesday. Sharpie Girl actually joined the barn last year as a yearling. All of her breaking and training was done by the team at Danner Racing, so this win was an even more emotional one, knowing it was a true team effort to get to the winners circle so quickly.

Ground Support was honored yesterday as the FL-bred champion 2 year old filly for her accomplishments last year! From an $80k purchase in May at the 2 year old sales, to a Grade 2 win and Grade 1 placing (including breaking her maiden first time out at 100-1 odds!), we are excited to see what her 3 year old year brings. Ground Support, pictured with her groom Basilio, received the winter off for her efforts last year, and is now back in training and breezing at Turfway Park!
