Hey there. I created this account years ago and named it after me. Being a complete techno-knucklehead, I later opened another account under THE EXACT SAME name, and now it's causing me headaches.
Although this will probably affect NO ONE, I feel it is my duty to alert anyone who cares that I'm going to close this account forever next Wednesday.
See what I'm up to at the OTHER Mack Dryden account. I'm posting lots of new and funny stuff.🙂

After a super (in-person!) gig in Naples, Teri and I took advantage and went down to lovely Key West for a 4-day getaway. We visited friends and had a fine time, despite a lodging glitch. This 2-min video might give you a chuckle and save you some teeth-gnashing if you plan to head that way.

I brought an "Autumn Blaze" maple tree home in our car 7 years ago when it was a stick and a root ball. BOY is it well named! Think you'll enjoy.

My longtime friend and fellow Mississippian David Sheffield--former head writer for SNL and co-screenwriter for several Eddie Murphy movies--wrote a very funny play about his experience managing a flophouse hotel in Oxford in 1967 and the characters who came through. He asked me to play Nubbie, a boozer and semi-literate house painter. I moved to Oxford for six weeks, had a great time, and did six sold-out shows in mid-August. Because COVID complicated things, no video is available, but I shot this 2-min bootleg of a pivotal scene you might enjoy.

We can't get too many laughs these days, so I hope this hits you like it did me. My daughter Brittany and hubby Rich live in Brighton, UK, and have a Zoom chat with about 20 friends every Sat. night. Every chat has a theme and they all dress up. Last week the theme was "Tiger King," and to no one's surprise, B&R won the costume contest that night. Both their toddler sons were in bed, and one called out. Brit instinctively went to check on him, forgetting her makeup, and his little face kind of melted into total, lip-quivering bewilderment, like Dad and Mom had somehow MERGED!

It’s been said that comedians have a Third Eye that allows us to see the Funny in things other folks can’t. But if you keep the right attitude—i.e., “how would a comedian look at this,” or “that’s kind of funny, how could I get a laugh with it?”—and keep your antennae up, opportunities will pop up all the time.
We are crazy lucky to be best friends with our wonderful neighbors, and yesterday I heard two of them having a shouted conversation. Kat (appropriately) had climbed to the middle brace of her back fence to see Jeff across the alley, who was on the stairs to his side porch so he could see over his fence, too. They were about 20 yards apart, and I was 30 yards from both of them. I crept up a step ladder near my fence and waited for an opening. When Jeff finished shouting a point, I popped up so both of them could see me and yelled at the top of my lungs, “Do you think this is enough social distance?!” and they both cracked up.
There are laughs everywhere if you’ll pay attention and pounce.
