It's been a year since you left. Some days it feels like yesterday and other days it feels like forever, or something in between. Regardless, I'll always feel your absence in the shared spaces we used to have. Grief cannot exist without love. I wouldn't trade any amount of pain and loss for the love I had gave you, or more importantly, the love you gave me. I love you and miss you dearly Kaylee ❤️

I don't think I’ll ever have the right words. I could spend the rest of my life searching for them, but I know they wouldn’t do you justice. I’m all too familiar with how cruel this world can be, and how much is beyond our control. But in this world, you were a light. You faced it all with a smile, and even when things got unbearably hard, I never once heard you complain.

I feel so lucky to have been brought into this world with you by my side, just a few steps ahead. You showed me how to care, how to love. You taught me what it means to have a best friend, and how to be one.

You were more than a sister to me—and you always will be. Looking back, I think I understand now that you were an angel, here to hold my hand and guide me as long as you could. I only wish I could have held on to you a little longer.

Before you left, I got to see you fall in love and start a family. You gave us two of the most precious gifts—a wonderful brother-in-law and a beautiful niece. We’ll take care of each other from here.

I love you so much, and I know how much you loved your baby brother, too. You never let me forget. When my time comes, I hope yours will be the first face I see. I’ll see you in the next lifetime, Kaylee. For now, rest well.
