I often get asked, "๐ช๐ต๐ ๐๐ผ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐พ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐?" Because they are the ๐บ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ถ๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ถ๐ป #๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐! If the is not relevant, engaging, and applicable to the learner & their work, you've lost them...so the training simply checks a box.

A new survey of LGBTQ+ professionals in the U.S. found that "nearly a quarter (24%) of surveyed professionals were not open about their identity in their workplace. 26% of respondents worried that being open about themselves would cause coworkers to treat them differently...Fortunately, respondents who have come out at work said that it has helped them connect with others for support and build better relationships within their profession...

What do I mean? Why is this important?
A greater purpose interconnection lets me know--as an employee of this organization--how what I do directly impacts the organizationโs mission and why it matters. So, how can you do this? Consider a short video (example in comments).
The video doesnโt have to be fancy & it doesnโt have to include people. It can be a simple video recorded on your phone, or a collection of visuals and voiceover. Yet, it does need to be relevant, relatable, and clearly connect the purpose.
Imagine if you had a video that was interconnected to a higher purpose and it's what kicked off an onboarding. Would your team be proud of where they work? So much so that they might share the video further...maybe tell people about the difference the organization makes, or let others know how their work makes a difference? Would there be in learning how to do the thing better?

Throughout the holidays, I took photographs of my family - ๐ฎ ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐ณ๐๐น ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐ท๐ผ๐ - & learned how to use my camera with more skill. Itโs amazing how different a picture looks by ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐!
The past few months - with launching my business - I've gotten ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐น๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐, ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฑ, away from some of my mindful practices, & away from my photography practice. It strikes me as something I need to pay more attention to right now, in my day-to-day, to regain balance. There are so many ways for me to notice, appreciate, & slow down, if I will just ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ ๐บ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฐ๐๐ - the same way I do in the lens of my camera.
For the past few weeks, I shifted my focal point to sleep health. ๐ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ธ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ ๐บ๐ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฐ๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ & return to a mindful practice I've let slip: ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐น๐ถ๐๐. Reflecting on the day & making a gratitude list is a way that I reflect upon & reframe my day; it's very helpful when I need to see balance on harder days.
