Totally transforming the back of this house with traditional elements and arched rear porch. These classic pediments require completely custom crown, but the end product is worth it.

This month marks 20 years in business for Graham Design Build. I wouldn’t even know where to begin with all the stories of projects, clients, workers, and all the ups and downs over the past 20 years. Broken bones, stitches, working in zero degree weather to a hundred degree August sun. I think I’ve covered it all!

Without my wonderful family I certainly wouldn’t have gotten to where I am today. Thanks so much to the amazing clients, workers, and tradespeople I’ve worked with over the last 20 years. I take nothing for granted, and I owe so much to those who have helped me along the way.

Sweet porthole window adds interest to a bookshelf corner.

With our paint prep, we typically end up double prepping the surfaces. Meaning even after an initial spackling and caulking, we will spackle and caulk as needed before our final spray coat. Prepping properly is at least half the work on a good paint job if not more.

Copper gutters don’t just look timeless. Copper gutters are stout being made with thicker gauge walls than aluminum gutters. Since copper can be soldered, any seems in the gutters can be permanently joined whereas aluminum gutters rely on sealants which can fail with time. No need to ever paint copper gutters since they don’t rust and they turn a nice bronze/brown color within a few months of being exposed to the elements.

Happy to be working on a project at this historic Louisville property again for some wonderful clients. The c.1790 homestead belonged to the Herr family.

Red Grandis is a sustainably farmed hardwood lumber from Uruguay. It’s often used as a substitute for mahogany because of the clear grain and durability in exterior applications.
