As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Learning Rights Law Center, I am proud to share the profound impact we have made together on behalf of children with disabilities and learning differences across Los Angeles and beyond.
What began as a small but determined effort to ensure that every child could access an appropriate education has grown into a powerful organization-one driven by families, advocates, educators, volunteers, and supporters who refuse to accept inequity in our schools.
This year, our work carried particular meaning. In a time when families continue to navigate learning loss, systemic barriers, devastating fires and executive actions, and uneven access to services, the need for strong, informed, and compassionate advocacy has never felt more urgent. And yet, in the face of these challenges, our community showed remarkable resilience.
Together, we equipped parents with knowledge, empowered students with disabilities to reclaim their right to learn, and held school systems accountable to the laws that protect our most vulnerable learners.
Thanks to your partnership, Learning Rights provided thousands of families with direct legal advocacy, special education workshops, individualized case support, and community-based training.
We resolved cases that restored essential services, secured assessments that had been delayed for years, and ensured that students received the supports they needed to learn, communicate, and thrive. Just as importantly, we stood alongside families during moments of frustration and fear-reminding them that they are not alone.
Looking ahead, we are committed to expanding our reach, strengthening our advocacy, and building the next generation of education justice leaders. There is more work to do-and with your continued partnership, I am confident that we will meet this moment with the same determination that has defined our organization since day one.
Thank you for standing with us and for believing, as we do, that every child deserves the chance to learn and the opportunity to succeed.
With gratitude,
Randi Sunshine
