"More than a year after the Eaton Fire changed so many lives, has announced the adoption of the last shelter animal connected to the disaster, a German Shepherd named Artemis 🐾

Artemis was originally brought to Pasadena Humane for emergency boarding after his family lost their home in the fire. Due to the long-term impacts of displacement and recovery, his family later made the difficult decision to surrender him. After months of support from shelter staff and volunteers, our furry friend has now found a loving new home.

"During his time with us, he showed us what true resilience looks like, growing and opening up in ways that made his progress all the more meaningful. Artemis is now thriving-loved, adopted, and exactly where he's meant to be." - Pasadena Humane.

His adoption marks the closing of an important chapter for Pasadena Humane, which cared for hundreds of animals affected by the Eaton Fire and helped reunite countless pets with their families throughout the recovery process 💛🐶

Recovery is easier when no one has to navigate it alone 💛

What started as a group of neighbors and friends staying connected during the Eaton Fire has grown into the ""Every Fire Survivors Network"" (EFSN), now the largest survivor-led recovery hub in the country.

Created by and for fire survivors, EFSN connects communities across Altadena, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Topanga, and beyond with trusted resources, housing support, legal assistance, disaster recovery information, and more 🙌

One of the most powerful parts of this work is that it’s survivor-led and the support comes from people who have lived through the experience and are committed to helping others navigate the road ahead.

If you or someone you know has been impacted by the wildfires, save this post and share it with someone who may need it. 🫂

Neighbors Helping Neighbors 🌱💛

As Altadena enters another fire season, a grassroots effort is stepping up to help fire survivors clear overgrown weeds and vegetation from vacant lots left behind by the Eaton Fire.

What started as Antoinette "Toni"Bailey-Raines helping her family clear their property has grown into a volunteer-led initiative that has already helped clear multiple lots across the community while helping reduce fire risk and ease the burden on displaced homeowners.

" My dream is one Saturday morning to have 500 people and that we clear a whole street, a whole block - so that this list of 200 can go down, and as others hear about it, they get on it, and we as a community do this as neighbors to help one another," expressed Toni.

A new landmark for Altadena 🎨

Yesterday, community members gathered to celebrate the unveiling of Altadena's newest and largest mural, a powerful symbol of community pride.

Stretching more than 85 feet across and brought to life with the help of more than 80 volunteers, this mural is a testament to what can happen when neighbors and local businesses come together around a shared vision 💛

A special thank you to Austin Scott , the Delawari family, 24LA , and the many volunteers who helped make this project possible.

This is a true reflection of the spirit of Altadena and the people who continue to show up for one another every step of the way 🫂
