Codeblack Elite Track Club
CODEBLACK ELITE TRACK & FIELD CLUB - 2015 AAU National Club Champion. Fighting the good fight and fig
This is what resilience looks like.
Dejah Egans was having a great season before an injury slowed her down. But it never broke her focus. She attacked rehab, stayed locked in, supported her teammates even when she wasn’t able to compete, came back strong enough to make the CIF Finals, and kept working all summer.
Now she just dropped a huge 200m PR 24.55.
That is not luck. That is discipline, patience, and belief.
Proud of you, Dejah. Keep stacking days. You’re going to do big things next year.

From the coaches desk ✍🏾
Tracks end. Chapters don’t. Proud to stand with Marley Scoggins as she graduates and heads to University of Tennessee, Paige Porter now at Cal Berkeley, and Malia Rainey, next up. This is the part of coaching that means the most.

End of season dinner and senior send off.
Proud of this group. The wins, the PRs, the grind, the laughs, the lessons, and the memories made this season special.
To our seniors: thank you for setting the tone and leaving the program better than you found it.
Family forever. 🖤💛

THREE YEARS. ONE STANDARD. NO SHORTCUTS. 🐾🧡
When Marley Scoggins walked into this program, the assignment was simple: compete at the highest level, then take it to college. Mission accomplished ✔️
Two-time CIF State Division Champion. School record holder at 200m — 23.27. A CIF State finalist in the 100m AND the 200m. And now she’s taking her talents to Knoxville. 🍊 University of Tennessee. Go Vols.
But here’s what I want every young athlete and every parent reading this to understand:
Marley didn’t get here by accident, and she didn’t get here alone. She got here because she trusted the program every workout, every cue, every hard conversation, every detail. And behind that trust was a partnership that made all the difference: her parents and I worked as a team. Not parents on one side and coach on the other one unit, same mission, same standard.
They didn’t coach from the stands. They went all in. They supported the program, poured into the other kids on this team, and brought energy and enthusiasm to everything we did. When a coach and a family lock arms and pull in the same direction, the athlete feels it and so does everyone around them. That’s not a theory. Marley is the proof.
That’s the formula. The coach and the parents working as one team. Same plan. Same standard. Same belief in the kid and watch what happens, not just to one athlete, but to all of them.
Marley, coaching you these three years has been one of the great joys of my career. The medals are real, but what I’m proudest of is the young woman you’ve become. This isn’t goodbye I’m going to be in your corner long after the last race, as you grow into adulthood and into everything that’s waiting for you.
Run with pride. Always have. Always will. 🖤💛
Go get ‘em in Tennessee. We’ll be watching.
