He’s no stranger to the hospital hallways of Hollywood. Noah Wyle couldn’t join us for our ATX Fest panel, but he sent over a message about the importance of medical accuracy on screen in his own professional career (cue ER and The Pitt). Artists and Advocates, physicians and storytellers, all of us committed to the same mission. Thank you, Noah!

What a week! Following our Evening from the Heart Austin event, we joined actors, physicians, and advocates at ATX TV Fest for a candid conversation about medical accuracy in television. Because the stories we tell on screen have real-world consequences. When audiences see themselves reflected it can build trust, break stigmas, and save lives, if portrayed correctly. Grateful for a room full of people who believe that too. The work continues.

When purpose fills the room, something special happens.

We were honored to come together for an evening of awareness, connection, and community, united by the cause bigger than any one of us: aortic disease. Thank you to our gracious hosts and board members: The Weaver Family and The Arnaoutakis’ Family that opened their homes. And to everyone who gave their time and heart, we say thank you.

May is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Awareness Month. There are 13 recognized types of EDS, and one type, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (VEDS), dramatically increases the risk of life-threatening complications including aortic and arterial aneurysms and dissections. At the JRF, we are proud to support members of our community living with VEDS, as well as families who have lost loved ones to this condition.

Paramedics and EMS are often first on the scene when someone has a dissection, and early recognition is crucial. We’re proud to honor these heroes and support their continuing education in recognizing aortic dissection and acting fast.
