Cactus has been hiding in his crate a lot the last couple days. He tends to do this when he’s nervous or senses there’s a change coming. Doing my best to make sure he feel comforted!
Let’s see how many days it takes Cactus to not hang in the crate when I’m gone!!
Cactus has a million toys of his own, but for some reason he’s obsessed with sneaking into our room during the day and stealing all the Squishmallows that technically aren’t his. He’s so sneaky we don’t even notice it’s happening until the end of the day when every single one is piled up in his room like a little trophy collection. Not sure what goes on in that head of his, but clearly he thinks the Squishmallows belong to him now (they basically do 😅)!
Sometimes, out of nowhere, Cactus slips into a quiet, sad mood. There’s no clear reason for it. No loud noise. No sudden change. Just a shift in his energy that’s hard to miss. I can always tell when something feels off. He moves a little slower, and his eyes lose that usual spark. He’ll come over to me without a sound, sit close, and give me this look that feels like he’s asking for something only I can give. It’s not dramatic. It’s gentle, almost hesitant. He doesn’t need to make a sound. That look says everything. I may never fully understand what causes these moments, but I know what he needs when they happen. He needs closeness. He needs warmth. He needs to feel like he belongs. So I stop what I’m doing. I sit with him. I talk to him softly, let him lay his head on my leg, and just be still. I let him know he’s safe, he’s seen, and he’s loved. Whatever he’s feeling, I want him to know he doesn’t have to go through it alone. And if all he needs is a quiet moment next to me to feel better, then that’s exactly what I’ll give him. Every time.
There wasn’t a lot of dogs at the park and the dogs that were there didn’t have much interesting in playing with Cactus. I could tell he wanted to run sooo I decided to run with him (in my slides 😅)
I knew Cactus would be excited, but I wasn’t ready for this. The moment showed up, he lost it, full-on talking, smiling, and wiggling his whole body like he couldn’t contain the joy.
Cactus has had a rough month or so with vet visits. Between getting shots and having an upset tummy the little guy can’t catch a break! Luckily the vet was able to help and he’s pretty much all better now!
It was hot out and I wanted to treat Cactus to something special. Do you think he liked it?
Cactus finally got his own iPad so he can watch Shrek whenever he wants! Now I just need to teach him how to use it.
