As you may know, we receive countless requests to save dogs in need every single day. The need is overwhelming - saying yes is a huge commitment (we are responsible for everything that dog needs until they get adopted), and saying no often means exactly what you think it means. The stress of these decisions can sometimes be debilitating.
A few months ago, we created a waitlist. It was a way for us to try and stay organized with the multitude of requests, while also trying to give a fair chance to the many people and dogs who need help. Today, I’m sharing that waitlist.
Our facility is full, so the only way we can help the dogs off of this list is with fosters. We do not expect to be able to help all of them, as sad as it is. It’s just not possible. But we’re hoping that maybe a handful of fosters will volunteer, and we can save some lives together. Fostering is 100% free, all supplies are provided, and we take care of any medical and overall needs for the dogs. Here are the dogs:
Slides 1-3: Gypsy, a four month old female shepherd mix from the Bakersfield Shelter. She had a severe eye injury and is now blind in that eye.
Slide 4: Ramona, a 1.5 year-old female cattle dog mix. Ramona is living with a very kind homeless woman in Lancaster. The woman saved three dogs, got all of them fixed and vaccinated, and found homes for two of the dogs. Ramona still needs a home.
Slides 5-7: the 5 “highway” pups. 3-4 months old, likely shepherd/ terrier/ poodle mixes 🤷🏻‍♀️A kind woman in Santa Clarita saw five puppies on the side of the highway in a crate. She took them home, and they’ve been staying in her laundry room. She is already fostering a stray dog, and the nine puppies that she gave birth to. We are taking that Mom and puppies into the rescue, because she is able to foster them for us.
Slide 8: Jane. A very sweet full grown shepherd at the Bakersfield Shelter. We already rescued her puppies, but we haven’t found anywhere for Mom to go yet.
Slides 9-10: 3 infant puppies in Palmdale. A pack of stray dogs gave birth to a litter of puppies. Half of them died. There are now three left. The parents are feral, and the puppies are dying.

Meet Giraffe! 🦒

Giraffe is a three to forty month old German Shepherd mix puppy with a personality as big as her ears! She came to us from the Bakersfield shelter with her mama and siblings when she was just a month old, and now she’s ready to find a family of her very own.

This sweet girl is a total social butterfly Giraffe loves making new friends wherever she goes. She is playful, silly, bold, and endlessly curious, and approaches life with excitement and enthusiasm! Whether she’s exploring her surroundings, playing with her toys, or soaking up attention from her favorite humans, she’s always the center of the fun. And when playtime is over, she’s more than happy to curl up for cuddles.

Expected to grow to around 50-60 pounds, Giraffe will be the perfect adventure buddy and snuggle partner. Her adoption fee includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, rabies vaccine, and a microchip. Could this lovable little explorer be your perfect match? Apply for Giraffe today!

Monkey has come so far since we rescued her and her littermates one month ago. We actually thought she was sick, and then learned that she was just so scared that she barely wanted to move! Well, she’s no longer a scared little puppy! She’s a sweet happy, cuddly girl who has been amazing at our puppy parties.

Monkey nothing more than a good cuddle session after a fun play session. She and her siblings are the kind of puppies that make everyone around them smile, and they soak up every bit of love and attention they can get. Expected to grow to around 50 to 60 pounds, they’ll be the perfect mid-size companions big enough to keep up with your adventures but still totally down to snuggle on the couch like the lovable goofballs they are.

Monkey is the smallest of the bunch and when she first arrived she was shy and scared, but we could see that she only needed love to help her come out of her shell. She is brave, playful and silly now!

As always, our puppy adoption fee covers everything your new pup needs to start their journey on the right paw with spay/neuter, first round of puppy vaccines, rabies vaccine, and a microchip. Come meet the Jungle Litter and find out which little explorer is meant to be yours!

People often ask us about the work we do - how we cope with the challenges and tragedies. There’s no easy answer to that. They need us, so we show up. And we’d never have it any other way.
Kindness is a circle. We see it often in the compassion we give to the dogs and the love they show us in return.
From all of us here at Pups Without Borders - give your dogs a kiss from us today 🫶

Say hello to Bandit!

This five month old husky mix is here to steal your heart! He was rescued from a hoarding situation alongside his sister Dior. Bandit is curious, playful, and incredibly smart. He loves romping with other dogs and is wonderfully gentle with people, making him a great fit for a home with furry friends or little ones.

Bandit and Dior have blossomed into calm, quiet, and affectionate pups. His foster family has been working on potty training and he’s doing a fantastic job! When fully grown, Bandit is expected to weigh around 60 pounds… though a good chunk of that will be gorgeous husky fluff!

Bandit comes fully vaccinated, and his adoption fee includes his upcoming neuter surgery, so he’ll be all set for his forever home. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just wants a safe place to belong, Bandit might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. Reach out today to learn more about this special boy! 💙

Heeeeeres… Sonny!!

Buckle up, because this little man is ready to take on the world, and he wants you right there with him! Sonny is a 4-year-old Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix with enough energy, curiosity, and s***k to light up any room he walks into.

Sonny arrived at the Bakersfield shelter with his devoted companion, Cher, and together they raised two beautiful puppies who have already found their forever homes. The pups are settled and happy and now it’s dad’s turn, and this guy is MORE than ready.

Playful, jumpy, and bursting with excitement, Sonny approaches every single day like it’s the greatest adventure he’s ever been on. He is endlessly curious about the world around him and would absolutely thrive with an active family who loves to explore, play, and go on new adventures. Hikes, road trips, backyard discoveries — Sonny is down for all of it.

He may be compact in size, but his personality is enormous. This s***ky little guy has proven he is a loving and devoted partner, a caring father, and a loyal companion. He just needs someone to share his next big adventure with!
