The Spirit of ’76: Reflecting on America’s 250th
June 18–November 8, 2026 at Los Altos History Museum

As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this interactive exhibition at Los Altos History Museum explores America’s past, present, and future through national and local stories. Highlights include artifacts from the Bicentennial era, local connections to the Anza expedition, student poster contest winning entries, and opportunities for visitors to share their hopes for America’s 300th anniversary.

We will be crafting flower-themed jewelry + buttons from old/damaged books (don't worry - no viable books will be harmed); instructions and materials will be provided but are in limited supply, so get there early to secure your place. Children aged 12 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult, as we will be using sharp objects like scissors.
