This past week Loris FFA travelled to the 99th annual State FFA Convention. We had 25 students compete in 7 different contests throughout the week as well as had one of our own run for state office.

It’s exciting that 4 out of our 7 teams placed, and 3 of those were state winners! We also have the Individual FFA Award state winner as well as the State Proficiency winner in Goat Production.

We had 10 students earn their FFA State Degree. Loris FFA was named a Gold Emblem Chapter and recognized as a 100% membership chapter. Ava Anderson was also recognized as the Region 3 Star Farmer in placement.

Lily Mishoe was also named as the newly elected SC FFA State Vice President for the 2026-2027 year!!

Our students also participated in the Day of Service where we made leashes to be donated to a local animal shelter.

Proud is an understatement. Our students worked hard and it all paid off!

Go Lions!

Sydney Kratzer and Hailey Watts have been awarded the prestigious South Carolina Teaching Fellowship.

Sydney and Hailey will join the freshman cohort at Coastal Carolina University this fall where they will be offered numerous professional development opportunities and be involved with communities and businesses through various service projects and partnerships with local schools.

The state's Teaching Fellows Program, operated by the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA), was established in 1999 by the SC General Assembly. The mission of the program is to recruit talented high school seniors into the teaching profession and help them develop leadership qualities. Each year, the program provides Fellowships for up to 215 high school seniors who have exhibited high academic achievement, a history of service to their school and community, and a desire to teach in South Carolina.

Applicants for the program undergo a rigorous selection process that includes an online application, an interview and presentation in front of a team of three educators, and a scored response.

Following the rigorous selection process, applicants who are awarded a Fellowship receive up to $24,000 in yearly scholarships (up to $6,000 a year for four years) to attend a Teaching Fellows Institution in South Carolina. Each Fellow agrees to teach in South Carolina one year for every year he or she receives the Fellowship.

For more information about the South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, visit teachingfellowsc.com.

Congratulations, Sydney and Hailey! We are so proud of you!
