First thing this morning, Guy went to see our friends at Kimbrough Animal Hospital. He has been frequenting the litter box to urinate more than usual, and even though he's been eating well, maintaining his weight and otherwise doing great, on a hunch we checked his glucose on Saturday. With a reading of 280, it pointed to our suspicion that Guy may be diabetic. We knew we'd have to get him to the vet to confirm and get a plan of treatment together. But then on Sunday, Guy's health seemed to take a turn. He was not interested in eating at all on Sunday, his glucose was even higher at 330, he vomited and had an elevated temp. We worried we might be looking at something more serious, so knew we had to get him in ASAP. With the help of a friend, we were able to get him in to see Dr. Kimbrough today for an 8:30 appointment. Guy is beginning to develop cataracts, has stomatitis and... after labs and a urinalysis were run, it was confirmed that he does have diabetes. Considering these developments they feel Guy is probably a lot older than originally estimated (they think he is closer to 10 yrs old). The good news is everything else with his exam and tests/labs looked good, and they think he is a great candidate to have the oral medication to keep his diabetes in check. He started the new medication today and will return to the clinic on Thursday so they can recheck and monitor his glucose and keytone levels. He'll need to have that reviewed again at 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 8 weeks to ensure the medication is working as it should. So we are just taking the first steps in this journey with Guy, but are hopeful that this will get him back on track very soon.
A big THANK YOU to Dr. Kimbrough and staff for your quick and caring attention to Guy, and to Sally for taking charge of today's vet visit with Guy (it was an incredible help!). 😸🐾❤

Jamie: "In the summer, this is the best spot. It gets just enough sun to keep me warm, but not too much so that I get hot. Plus, it is perfectly in the path of a cross breeze from the windows."

Jerri is full of energy and loves to play, but when playtime is though he is a great snuggle bud and it doesn't take much to get his purr motor revving! He can be shy when meeting strangers but once he settles in he thinks himself the king of the castle! He likes to mingle and play with the other kitties in his foster home, so a feline friend would be ideal.

Bindi and Bunny are ready to be the perfect addition to your home. They are sweet, easy going and chill. They can be playful but spend most of their day curled up napping or looking out a window. These sister love being petted and doted on but aren’t overly imposing or attention seeking. They do great with other cats and cat friendly dogs. Did we mention that they are perfect?
