Glaucoma is often called the "silent thief of sight" and for good reason. ποΈ
In most cases, glaucoma has no noticeable symptoms in its early stages. No pain, no blurry vision, nothing to tip you off that something is wrong. By the time vision loss becomes apparent, significant damage may have already occurred.
Early detection is everything with glaucoma. Don't skip your annual exam, book yours today at the link in our bio! π

"You have astigmatism", it's one of the most common things we tell patients, and one of the most misunderstood. πποΈ
Here's the simple version: a normal cornea is round like a basketball. With astigmatism, the cornea is shaped more like a football, slightly curved in one direction more than the other. This causes light to focus unevenly on the retina, leading to blurry or distorted vision at any distance.
The good news? Astigmatism is incredibly common and very treatable. Glasses, contact lenses, and, in some cases, refractive surgery can all correct it effectively.
If you've been experiencing blurry vision, eye strain, or headaches, astigmatism could be the culprit. Book an exam and let's take a look! π

Myopia Control: What Parents Need to Know!
If your child has been diagnosed with nearsightedness, you might be wondering: Is there anything we can do beyond just updating their glasses every year? π§π¦
The answer is yes, and it's called myopia control. π
Myopia control refers to treatments designed to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children, which matters because higher levels of myopia are linked to a greater risk of serious eye conditions later in life, including retinal detachment and glaucoma.
Every child is different, and we'll work with you to find the right approach. Book a consultation at the link in our bio! π

What Is Nearsightedness, Really?
Nearsighted. You've probably heard the term, but what does it actually mean? π€ποΈ
Nearsightedness (also called myopia) means you can see things up close just fine, but objects in the distance appear blurry. It happens when the eye grows slightly too long, causing light to focus in front of the retina instead of directly on it.
And it's more common than ever, especially in kids and young adults. In fact, myopia rates have been rising steadily over the past few decades, largely linked to increased screen time and less time spent outdoors.
The good news? It's very manageable. Glasses, contacts, and myopia control treatments can all help, and the earlier we catch it, the better.

Summer is here, and we are HERE for it. βοΈBut before you head outside, let's talk about protecting those eyes!
UV rays are at their strongest during the summer months, and prolonged exposure can contribute to cataracts, macular degeneration, and even sunburn on your eyes (yes, that's a real thing, it's called photokeratitis π¬).
Here's how to keep your eyes safe all summer long:
- Wear sunglasses with 100% UVA & UVB protection
- Don't forget a wide-brimmed hat for extra coverage
- Wear goggles when swimming, chlorine and bacteria are no joke
- Give your eyes extra love if you wear contacts outdoors
Enjoy every sunny moment, do it safely! ππ Book your summer eye exam at the link in our bio.
