We’re proud to recognize Chris Schropp, General Manager of XCEL’s North Region Conventional NDE, whose leadership, experience and commitment to his team have been part of XCEL’s story from the very beginning.

As XCEL’s first employee, Chris has grown alongside the company, taking on different leadership roles as the organization has expanded and evolved. Today, he leads a team known for taking on challenging projects, working together as one unit and delivering for clients when the task may seem unachievable.

For Chris, strong leadership comes down to respect, honesty and transparency. That approach, combined with having the right people in the right roles, helps his team maintain the quality and consistency clients expect across the North Region. From supporting major plant turnarounds to embracing emerging technologies like robotics and AI, Chris and his team keep looking for new ways to grow and meet the industry's changing needs.

Since beginning his NDT career in 1985, Gerald has built a career founded on hard work, continuous learning and leading by example. Today, he helps customers navigate complex inspection challenges while fostering a culture where safety, quality and education come first. He believes that taking the time to teach customers and mentor the next generation is one of the most valuable parts of the job.

Whether he's guiding his team through change, embracing new inspection technologies or spending time outdoors with family and his grandchildren, Gerald brings the same dedication and integrity to everything he does.
