Tonight we graduate our last CAN team. As I get ready for this event, I am feeling a mix of sadness and of pride. Proud of the accomplishments that this small team was able to achieve during this term. Proud of what this program has accomplished over the past 21 years. Sad that it is coming to an end and the opportunities to serve have been greatly reduced because of it. But we are AmeriCorps always and forever and we will get things done!

Join us for our last service project!

This year, National Volunteer Week is going on from April 18th through April 24th, and we will be getting a head start and kicking the week off with a service project on April 17th. We are hoping to recruit some volunteers to come and join us!

For our service project, we will be joining in on the annual Castle Rock Clean-Up Day. This event has been bringing the community together since 2003 as volunteers assist in various beautification activities throughout the town. Over the years, participants have performed activities on this day such as planting trees, gardening, weeding, and landscaping throughout the city. This project is coordinated with North County Recreation Association, Mayor Helenberg, Castle Rock Community Development Alliance ‘Bloom Team’, and Cowlitz AmeriCorps Network.

We are looking for volunteers to come join Cowlitz AmeriCorps Network for Castle Rock Clean-Up Day at the Northwest County Recreation Association baseball fields on April 17th. We will be landscaping a new picnic/event center, with the primary task being to dig holes and plant trees and shrubs in them in order to beautify this new recreation area.

If you are interested, please join us there at 9 AM. We will be staying until 4:30 PM, but you can leave whenever you’d like! Lunch will be provided for all at 1 PM. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Chennault at [email protected].
