The Longview Police Department is grateful for community partners like Community Healthcore for making this valuable training possible for our POST officers.

This week, Officer Duffie and Officer Moore from Longview’s Police Outreach Service Team (POST) attended the 9th Annual IDD Crisis Intervention Services Conference with a few of our crisis and IDD staff. We deeply appreciate their dedication and commitment to enhancing their understanding of how to better support individuals with disabilities and their families during crises in our communities.

What is POST? 🤔
POST officially began in Longview on January 1, 2018, with two officers dedicated to people experiencing homelessness. The goal of the team is to reduce homeless-related complaints by acting as a bridge between the homeless and available appropriate services. The creation of this team was one of the recommendations of the Mayor's Task Force on Homelessness in 2017. POST is modeled after successful programs in other communities, such as Lubbock and Houston.

The Longview Police Department is proud to partner with Kilgore College in celebrating the newest class of Basic Peace Officer Academy graduates. This dedicated group has completed 22 weeks of intensive training, preparing to serve and protect our communities with excellence, integrity, and courage. We applaud their hard work, commitment, and sacrifice as they begin their careers in law enforcement.
