Legacy Closet

Brrrrrr it's cold outside!!! ❄️ And our sweet kiddos are needing winter clothes! We have multiple bins that are empty or almost empty! Girls sizes 18 months-5T and boys 6x-12 are needed the most!! Please check your kiddos winter clothes and drop off anytime at the closet!! Thank yall so much!!!

I can't tell you how thankful we are that so many families and organizations have learned about our Closet and our mission, and we have been blessed with so many new faces and families over this year. Just this week so far we have been able to bless 18 children and we have appointments still to go tomorrow and this weekend. With so many sweet children coming through the doors, we are starting to run low on several things and need your help to restock!

Our girl winter bins 2t, 3t & 5t are low.
Our boy winter bins 12 mth, 2t, 3t, 4t & 10/12 are low.
We always need diapers and pull-ups, especially size 3-5!!

I’m an adoptee and an adoptive mom, and I serve as the Forever Family Director with Here I Am Orphan Ministries. My heart is to support adoptive and foster moms who may be struggling or simply need encouragement and rest.

Thanks to a generous donation, we’re able to host small group retreats for moms completely FREE of charge. These retreats are faith-based and include meaningful discussions on topics that matter to you, plenty of relaxation time, delicious meals, and connection with other moms who understand your journey.

We still have a few spots open for our November retreat in Brenham. You can learn more on our website and use the QR code below to sign up for this retreat or express interest in future dates (there will be one in January and June Location TBD)

**Support Needed!**
We are running very low on boys undergarments!
We need new boxer-briefs in all sizes, boys and mens and new ankle and no-show socks in all sizes!!! You can collect at your church, organization or business or just individually! Thank yall!!!!
(No briefs or high socks please!)

Its almost time for back to school! There are a lot of great back to school resources to help support families right now. Calvary Baptist Church wanted us to share their backpack giveaway coming up with all our wonderful families. If you know of other events, please post in the comments!

We had an incredible group of women, known as The Support Bras, adopt the closet last month for their donation drive and their focus was on teens! We received a huge amount of toiletries of all kinds, undergarments, and nearly 100 reusable bags (our favorite bags ever!)!!! Thank you ladies so much for your support of Legacy Closet!! ❤️❤️❤️

Anyone have a stroller that you don't need?? We have had multiple requests this week for strollers and we are out! Do you have a stroller in great shape that is no longer needed!?!?! Please consider donating it to us!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Big things are coming for the closet! ❤️❤️❤️ I am so excited for all the community support we have received over the last year specifically and how blessed we have been. Our board met today to share ideas and plans for some updates at the closet including a few needed repairs, some updates to the look of the closet (like new signage) but mainly updates related to the efficiency of how donations are processed, stored, displayed and shopped at the closet.

Thanks to generous donations from our supporters and our recent Eastman Credit Union donation, we have the funds to purchase materials needed for these repairs and updates!! We will need some skilled hands though to help these dreams become a reality. Our main need is for volunteers or businesses that are skilled at building shelving, cabinets, etc. If that is you, please reach out to us!!! We could also use some 24" deep, double-door cabinets that can be stacked or pantry-style cabinets, if anyone is remodeling and removing some cabinets like this, otherwise we will need to buy or build a set of these cabinets.

In addition to some updates at the closet, we are also excited to offer some new programs and benefits to our regular foster families. More details about these benefits will be coming soon!! 😍

And as always, we love volunteers and are always in need of more!!! If you are interested in volunteering at the closet on a weekly or biweekly basis, please reach out!

Blessed is an understatement! We are so thankful that ECU chose to support us with their 2024 Casual for a Cause employee give back program! Our board has several amazing things we have wanted to be able to do through the Closet for several years and are excited to be able to do those things now! Big things are coming! ❤️❤️❤️

❤️ We’re honored to present our next check to Legacy Closet of Longview, Texas, an incredible organization supporting children and foster families. We’re so proud to play a small part in the big difference they’re making!

We have a few supply needs at the Closet if anyone wants to help us! Most of the time our requests are for items that go straight to the kiddos we support but it does take a few supplies to keep the closet running. I have updated our Amazon wishlist with these additional items and marked them as highest priority. Some of the items we are running very low on are disinfecting wipes, disinfecting spray, 33 gal trash bags, and small rolls of packing tape. You are welcome to purchase local or you can purchase on Amazon and have it shipped to us at the address connected to our Amazon wish list. Thank you all so much for all your continued support! ❤️
