There’s a heat advisory in place for much of Eastern Washington. Hot temperatures with daytime highs in the mid-90s to near 100 degrees Tuesday and upper 90s to low 100s Wednesday and Thursday. We know for some of you, this is just classic summer weather. But, for others, this will pose a moderate to major risk of heat-related illness. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Please check with your local government or call 211 for cooling centers or explore other options such as libraries or shopping centers.
Of note:
▶️Know the risks of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
▶️Don't leave your kids and pets in the car.
▶️Rivers and lakes are expected to stay cool -- increasing the potential for a drowning risk.

🚨 New Medicare Update 🚨

If you’ve been hearing about GLP‑1 weight‑loss medications but figured the price tag put them out of reach, this might change things. Starting July 1, 2026, Medicare’s new GLP‑1 Bridge program can give eligible Part D members access to certain GLP‑1 weight‑loss drugs for $50 a month, regardless of income.

The program currently includes Foundayo (tablet), Wegovy (injection or tablet), and Zepbound KwikPen when they’re prescribed for weight management.

To use the GLP‑1 Bridge, you must:
- Be enrolled in a Medicare Part D drug plan.
- Not already be getting a GLP‑1 paid for by your current Part D plan.
- Meet specific health criteria (age 18+, certain BMI levels, and conditions like heart issues, high blood pressure that’s hard to control, chronic kidney disease, prediabetes, or a history of heart attack or stroke).
