✨Volunteer Spotlight✨ Billie Barton was introduced to LCM by her sister (Mary Fruge) who thought working together in the Food Box would be great “sister time.” She was right! They began spending each Tuesday working side by side and Billie has now been volunteering weekly for over a year and a half.

For the last month, Billie has been filling in for another longtime volunteer and begins her shift every weekday at 7:00 AM to help get the Food Box set up, sort produce and food items and much more. She will soon go back to her later Tuesday shifts where she loves helping put food in buggies, getting to know the clients by name and building relationships with both clients and fellow volunteers. Bonus – Billie mentioned that if you don’t have a gym membership, volunteering at the Food Box is a great place to come. She often walks 4-5 miles just running around setting up and serving people!

We love our volunteers and would love to have YOU! Food Box volunteers can work shifts between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM or 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM/12:30 PM every weekday. Email [email protected] to get plugged in!

Client Spotlight: Roy is blind, diabetic, was homeless and receives dialysis three times per week. Through the help of a social worker, Roy was connected with Meals With Love. LCM volunteers deliver 5 hot meals to him each week. Roy's social worker has thanked Meals With Love for helping him and has shared that the meals are making a real difference in his health.

LCM's most needed food donations include hair conditioner, toothpaste, lotion, ramen noodles, canned tuna and especially canned chicken. We appreciate any help you can give and appreciate your generosity!

You can drop off donations between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM weekdays at the Food Box located at the back of LCM's building (506 N. Second Street). Thank you!

✨Volunteer Spotlight✨ Terrye Hudson fondly remembers driving all over Longview with her father delivering hot meals to the elderly and shut-ins during the summer when she was a child. When she moved back to Longview as an adult, Terrye quickly became involved with LCM again through her church. She has now served as a volunteer with our Meals With Love program for over 30 years. Yes, 30 years! She notes, “So much has changed in Longview over the years but the daily connection with recipients hasn’t. They are always so glad to see someone.”

Terrye (pictured in the center) regularly picks up the meals prepared by Newgate Mission, helps coordinate the volunteer drivers and helps to deliver the meals to clients two to three times a week. The volunteers deliver roughly 50 meals Monday through Friday and are an invaluable part of the Meals With Love ministry.
