As someone who has been in the air conditioning and heating business for 20 years, there isn’t much I haven’t seen when it comes to the “make it work” mindset. Most are harmless and can get your equipment up and running in a flash. What isnt harmless in the picture below is taking the connections off this switch and wire nutting them together. The switch is specifically designed to shut off your gas valve when the unit reaches a certain temperature, specifically if your blower motor fails. The consequences by doing this will literally cause this unit to burst into flames. It concerns and angers me that there are technicians that will walk out of a home leaving homeowners without the most important safety switch functional and tell them it’s ok to leave the unit operational. A few days worth of heat is not worth the risk of your home or possibly your life. With that being said, please ask questions, and get a detailed description of what exactly is being done to the equipment in your home and by no means operate your gas furnace without these important safety switches. By the grace of God, these amazing homeowners never had to experience the consequences of their furnace needing the safety this switch provides.
