D-Day Remembrance – June 6, 2026
Today we honor the bravery, sacrifice, and unity of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944. D-Day was a turning point in World War II—where courage met history, and freedom was fiercely defended.
We remember those who gave everything, and we reflect on the price of liberty that continues to be protected by generations who followed.
As a token of our gratitude, Affordable Hyperbaric Solutions proudly offers a 10% discount on hyperbaric chamber rentals for all military personnel and veterans.
Let us never forget their heroism.

Some bad advice I see around the internet about HBOT is the "more is better" mentality.
Very often people think if something is good then more must be better.
However, when it comes to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), that is certainly not true.
This isn't about how much can I get and how do I get the highest exposures possible... It's about what are my goals and how do I make sure that the pressure that I'm receiving is a good match and will help me reach those goals?
In some cases (depending on whatever we're trying to solve) higher pressures can be more dangerous.
At higher pressures, you're more prone to oxygen toxicity, and you’ll likely experience higher amounts oxidative stress.
You may end up missing out on some of the benefits that you could have had at lower pressures (depending on your goals).
Additionally, on this "more is better" topic, let’s talk about frequency and duration.
From a duration standpoint, it's very common to have protocols of 5, 6, or even 7 days a week for some period of time, depending on what we're trying to help somebody with.
However, just like every other therapy that we utilize, we should have some type of pulse method. Meaning that we should push the therapy for a period of time and then back off for a period of time. Then repeat as needed.
One of the things I see is that people tend to get into it and then stay at the same level of intensity without ever really giving it the breaks that they need to allow their body to just catch up, recover, heal, and then get pushed again.
So, not only is more NOT better from a pressure standpoint, more is NOT better from a duration standpoint either.
Taking breaks is important!

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers an increased amount of oxygen to your body, but the oxygen molecule by itself won't do anything. Your cells need to take that oxygen in and use it as part of a fuel system to stimulate repair and regeneration.
There's a delay for everybody between the time you start therapy and the time those cellular changes begin to happen. A lot of those changes you may not even feel. Increased cellular energy may show up as increased energy for your body or mind, but in many cases it's increased energy for healing and recovery. While your cells are getting energy for that healing process, you don't necessarily perceive it as increased energy in your life.
Then there's another delay between the time these cellular changes are occurring and when they show up symptomatically or from a performance standpoint.
First, this oxygen needs to go into your system...and not just once, but repetitively, to show your body that it's going to have access to increased levels of oxygen over a period of time. As you drive that oxygen into your cells over a period of weeks, the cellular repair mechanisms start to kick off. Once you get enough repair, then you start to see those changes in your body, your life, your health, or your ability to perform.
There's also a delay between the time you stop therapy and the peak of benefits you're going to get. You've already created all of this momentum. Just because you pulled the oxygen away doesn't mean those benefits immediately stop. You will still get a few weeks at least of increased improvement before you reach whatever peak of improvement you're going to receive.

Some patients feel wiped out/exhausted after Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).
I believe that most of these patients are very driven by their sympathetic nervous system. They live in fight or flight.
HBOT has a very Parasympathetic effect on the body. Parasympathetic is the rest and digest state.
In most cases, that's terrific. Most people need to be brought back into their Parasympathetic Nervous System. In our Parasympathetics, we digest our food better, we sleep better, and then we heal and regenerate tissue more effectively. So, the Parasympathetic Nervous System is critically important and many people are deficient on that side of their nervous system.
On the other side, when you take a patient who's VERY Sympathetic Nervous System driven, and you bring them back into their Parasympathetic State, a lot of times they feel exhausted.
I think that's a good thing because we’re helping to teach that person's body how to operate within the Parasympathetic Nervous System again.
But, to the patient (especially in those first few sessions) that might feel exhausting and frustrating.
Great simple explanation from Dr Sonners regarding timeline of benefits and HBOT treatments. 🫶
