Good morning everyone,
Tomorrow, Friday 04/22, is forecasted to have extreme winds in both the mountains and on the plains. With extreme wind comes blown over containers and their contents spread all over neighborhoods. Some containers may blow away completely and some containers may even be heavily damaged.
It will be imperative for residents to appropriately secure their containers to avoid spillage in the event the wind knocks them over. If you haven't already acquired a means of securing your container, container bungees are great and inexpensive investments to make. You can find them at hardware stores and online.
If you would like to put a heavy object on the container, you are welcome to do so BUT please DO NOT place the rocks inside the container. There are a number of solutions to the issue and we hope everyone finds one that works best.
Unlike other haulers, we do not have automated systems. We have no problem taking those bungees or straps off the containers prior to emptying and placing them back on when we are finished. This goes for mountain customers and plains customers alike. However, containers will still need to remain accessible and visible at the main road.
We look forward to getting everyone collected tomorrow to the best of our ability and hope this message helps folks out there that may not have known what to do in these situations. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the office.
PS - We've added a photo of our new custom truck that was made possible by our loyal customer base that continues to grow every day. This truck is driven by our longest standing employee and the absolute best driver, Manuel. Manuel's routes include Pinewood Springs, Boulder Heights, Sunshine Canyon, Central City/Black Hawk, and Carter Lake. If you see Manuel and "Sancha" cruising around, feel free to say hello!
Good morning everyone!
As many may have noticed, the roads are extremely icy and are posing a great risk to the safety of our employees. We are monitoring routes as we move through the morning to see if roads warm up and may need to make more cancellations.
Pinebrook hills is being rescheduled. Please check your email for more information if you are on this route.
All other routes are currently running delayed. In the event we make changes to a route, we will notify those affected via email.
Our apologies for the inconvenience and we look forward to getting back on the road when itโs safe.
Do you live in the Town of Lyons and have interest in compost services?
We've begun a pilot program that allows us to provide bi-weekly compost services for those in the town collected on Mondays. If you'd like more information or would like to sign up, please reach out to the office staff and they'll be more than happy to answer all your questions.
Also, we are looking for a handful of volunteers that would like to test out our animal resistant 64 gallon retrofit containers. We want to test the containers exclusively in the Town of Lyons where there is usual bear activity come spring. If you're interest in this as well, please relay your information to office personnel to be placed on a list. We will reach out in mid February to have the containers sent out.
Happy Friday everyone!
Good morning everyone,
As of 5:57AM, hwy 119 and 6th are not plowed well enough for us to get through for services, if plowed at all. The following areas that are set for services today will not be collected:
Black Hawk
Central City
Magnolia
Nederland
Sugarloaf
Riverside
These routes are being rescheduled to this coming Saturday, 01/08/2022.
The route we run in Lyons today will be done to the best of the drivers ability. If we are unable to get everyone on this route due to impassable roads, we will be unable to reschedule. Those folks will, unfortunately, have to wait until next week for pickup.
All Firestone routes will be ran as regularly scheduled today.
We appreciate everyone's understanding in the matter as we are making these necessary decisions to keep our staff, our equipment, and your communities safe.
Stay warm, stay safe, and everyone enjoy this beautiful snow! Colorado NEEDS this moisture so we're more than happy to see it fall, despite its inconveniences.
Good morning everyone!
Another friendly reminder about our holiday schedule: We WILL NOT be delayed this week due to New Years. All Friday routes will be collected on Friday.
Also, if you haven't already looked into it, please remember that wrapping paper is not recyclable in most cases. Wrapping paper is typically very low grade material with high ink/clay content and is considered a contaminant at the BCRC. Collection crews are currently putting the wrapping paper in the trash to keep our recycling loads as clean as possible. If you prefer the crews leave your container behind for you to sort out, please let our office know so we can pass the message on.
The Ecocycle CHaRM facility and the Longmont Waste Diversion Center will temporarily accept wrapping paper from Dec 26-Jan 31.
If you would like to inquire more about holiday recycling do's and don'ts, please check out Ecocycle's Holiday Guide:

Happy Holidays!
Quick reminder now that Christmas is only 5 days away:
We will not be delaying services for Christmas or New Years. All Friday customers will be collected on Friday as regularly scheduled.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Good afternoon everyone,
We want to get a couple reminders out there to promote a smooth transition into the new year (I'm sure we can all agree we NEED 2022 to be better than the last two).
First hot item on the docket is our holiday schedule.
The remaining holidays that One Way observes are on the weekend so we will not delay routing.
Second hot item on the docket (pun intended) is in regard to our restricted materials policy.
It could possibly blow your mind how often our trucks catch fire due to restricted materials. Most recently, we had a hidden load of 100+ electronics batteries from lap tops, cell phones, solar panels, etc. Some of the batteries exploded causing the other batteries and other various trash items to ignite in our brand new truck. Fortunately, our driver is ok and the truck doesn't have any catastrophic damage. Ashes are plenty good at reigniting themselves as well under the right conditions. I've even seen customers set their houses on fire by putting ashes into the trash container.
If you ever question what can get thrown away, we're one phone call/email away.
With that, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Good morning One Way customers! This is a friendly reminder regarding our holiday schedule. If a holiday does not fall on an actual route day being Monday through Friday there will be no delay for the week of services.
In this case, since the Fourth of July fell on a Sunday there was no impact to collection on Monday. There is no delay in services for the week of 07/07/2021 - 07/09/2021
If you have further questions or concerns regarding this information please contact the office during our business hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Have a wonderful rest of your week!
