We take our role as a community space really seriously and also see this as an opportunity to do something tangible in solidarity with our larger community in this time of absolute despair. So we will be closed tomorrow and hope that you can also take some tangible action in a stand against facism, even if it feels small. And if we can all stand together and rally with the small actions they make a bigger action and it all MATTERS. We’ll be back on Saturday, come in and be in community with us. F**k ICE.

It’s nice to have something good to share? When everything else is kind of so terrible it leaves you breathless? And this sewing community is mostly what it’s all about for us so I was SO beyond PLEASED to be selected as a pattern tester for the new Whnyard Dress pattern from We’ve been big fans since way back! It’s such a great pattern and I loved making it! Not too hard and not too simple and the neck ruffle and facing construction is just so clever. 10/10 recommend. Bonus points if you stitch it up in something extra fun like this

Maker General has a little free zine library! Are you interested in self-publishing art? Or have expertise in a craft to share? Leave a zine in the library and take home a zine made by a local Longmont creative!

Join us for a Zines class to learn about the history and make your own zine on July 23 and 28 from Chase Sterling, an artist studying at SCAD, or come in and make use of our space at Maker General.

Zines are a great way to spread information because of their digestible and inexpensive form. Seize the means of production and contribute to the cultural knowledge of Longmont!

today we are closed to honor juneteenth. take some time today to learn something about the history of juneteenth. support a black owned business this week + always. donate to a black led organization. there is also a juneteenth celebration in longmont on saturday. as always keep fighting for racial justice.

It's June + we celebrate Pride and Juneteenth over here at Maker General.

The most important part of this whole adventure has been trying to build community. And we have built and are part of an incredible and meaningful community.

Come in tomorrow + sit at our community table + work on something for a bit, don’t buy anything. Just know that we are here to just sit with and make something with. Make a friend, make a thing. What are you going to make today?
