If you’re leading, you’re also training! Incorporate that role into the things that you’re doing so that you are leading improvement every step of the way. If you realize somebody doesn’t know how to do something, or they’re doing it poorly, figure out what they need to learn so they can do it better. Otherwise, you are settling for mediocrity, or you’re firing them and constantly trying to fill positions. If you’re dealing with all volunteers, the firing gets much harder. You need to set clear expectations and then give them the tools. They need to learn how to do their jobs appropriately.

That’s not so hard, is it? Your elevator pitch does not need to be clever, cute, or fluffy. Say who you help with what. Then start a conversation.
Don’t over complicate things, especially if you’re a new business owner. Start just by asking who you know, and don’t stop.

Are you stuck? Get moving! The best remedy is to put yourself and your marketing in motion. A social media post, a blog post, a thank you note, a call to a past client. That motion will unstick you and get your promotion in motion.
Persuasion works when you commit to the education it takes to help a person understand. Take a no-nonsense approach and leave out jargon and acronyms. Communicate at the receiver’s pace and level. Seek understanding and it might very well persuade a person … later, when they recall the conversation.
