This is where Chance lives. She’s visible in the beginning of the video, but I don’t have the skill to isolate her. It’s exciting living near activities like this.

I’m happy to welcome new followers and excited to begin posting regularly. For the time being, I’m “trapped” in Colombia and hoping to get back to Chance soon. As of my last post, Chance has been moved to Long Beach where I was staying in order to be closer to my mother in order to keep her out of memory care. Unfortunately, that didn’t last long and we decided to bring her to Colombia where memory care is significantly less expensive and arguably higher quality. This part of the Colombian adventure is drawing to a close. I’ll post more as this progresses.

Still in Colombia. I can’t wait to back to Chance!
If you ever wanted to know where Chance is, all you need to do is download and search Chance on the No Foreign Lands app. Right now, she’s at her slip in Long Beach. Because Chance transmits a signal on AIS, she’s always visible. Feel free to leave a message there or here.
If you don’t say hi, I’ll never know who you are.

We made it to Long Beach in 3 days and 1 hour. I have to thank my crew, Colin Trevor and Victor Bast. These two are students of and master practitioners of Sailing. The fact is, I couldn’t have done it without them, even if I thought about undertaking it solo. There are many unsung heroes here. There are people who helped all along the way: Michael Morris, Rob Levy, Blue Pelican, Olga Pombo Negrete, various members of OYC, EYC, Matthew Scheusler, Buckley Stone, Max and Levi Laske, Rose Mota-Nadeau, Sheila Blackburn, Bill Laske, Karen Wegrzn(moral support), friends and family. I’m sorry if I missed you. It’s late at night and I’m not thinking completely straight.
As many of you know, I’ve been diagnosed with MS. It’s not the death sentence many people believe, but it has been eating away at me for longer than I can remember. I’ve made the decision to sail as long as I can stand and steer Chance toward fair winds and following seas. There were many occasions that I was ready to throw in the proverbial towel. It’s really not an option. In other words, I’d rather die trying to realize my dream of sailing around in the world than move into a cheap condo on any shore. Please come sailing with me anytime you get to Los Angeles or Orange County. I promise you won’t be bored.

Chance is ready to go! And wouldn’t you know it, I suddenly am not? I came up to Alameda on the 5th of June to clean Chance and take her out for four days of sailing. What I got instead was 5 days of deteriorating health and the inability to walk. I checked into the hospital and was eventually diagnosed with MS. 11 days later I returned to Chance to attempt to heal and be able to sail. It’s going well, but I’m still reduced to using a walker to get around. I have plenty of therapy happening but would greatly appreciate your prayers. I need positive energy. I’m working hard to make the trip south to Long Beach.
Please take time to say “hi” so I know you’re here.
UPDATE!
I walked 500’ today without my walker. I’m calling this “off-leash adventures”. Thank you all for prayers and positive energy. It’s working!

I’m really tired of showing you photos of engine work. There is some news though. I have retired. I am getting ready to move to Long Beach. Chance is almost ready after so much leak detection. The fuel pump had been removed and readied for a rebuild. The water pump has been removed and ready for a replacement. There is much to say and time to say it in the coming days and weeks.
