The history of coffee is fundamentally rooted in the heritage of the Arab world, where the cultivation and preparation of the bean were elevated into an art form centuries ago.

Long before coffee became a global morning commodity, Arabic Coffee, or Qahwa, was a deeply revered cultural ritual—a symbol of hospitality, generosity, and community that is now recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage.

True Arabic Coffee is entirely distinct from the modern espresso or regular drip coffee found in western cafés.

While regular coffee typically relies on heavily roasted beans brewed to a dark, robust bitterness, traditional Qahwa utilizes lightly roasted, premium Arabica beans.

This gentle roasting process preserves the complex, natural tasting notes of the bean itself.

The preparation is an exercise in patience and tradition. The beans are coarsely ground and boiled in a distinctive, elegant vessel known as a Dallah.

Rather than being served plain or with milk, it is traditionally infused with aromatic spices—most notably freshly crushed green cardamom pods, and occasionally a hint of saffron or cloves. The resulting brew is unfiltered, offering a light, golden-amber hue, a remarkably smooth body, and a warm, spiced flavor profile that is deeply comforting and historically rich.

It is traditionally served in small, handleless cups called Finjan, accompanied by sweet dates to balance the spiced notes.
