Ghost Bikes organized as a response to the omnipresent and overlooked crime of cyclist deaths on Southern California's car-dominated streets.
The 'ghostly' white bikes placed by Ghost Bikes volunteers serve as roadside memorials and reminders to passersby of the cyclists who lost their lives in that spot. Over the years, Ghost Bikes has become an important resource and advocate for the cycling community and the general public, using social media to report hit-and-runs and cyclist and pedestrian deaths around the region and the country.
