A forerunner of Relational Aesthetics: On April 25, 26, and 27, 2008, in conjunction with the exhibition Allan Kaprow—Art As Life presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), LACMA will coordinate the reinvention of Allan Kaprow's Fluids. First realized for his 1967 exhibition at the Pasadena Art Museum, Fluids will be recreated by teams of volunteers at a wide range of sites across Los Angeles.

Rirkrit Tiravanija, one of the most sited artists of Relational Art and also one of the most convivial. Here, in 1992 when he made "Untitled 1992 (Free)", a
sculpture–performance wherein he emptied out the office
of the 303 Gallery in Soho and installed a makeshift kitchen, complete
with fridge, hot plates, rice steamers, tables, and stools. He then
cooked Thai curry; anyone could drop in, serve him- or herself, and eat.
For free.

"Relational Aesthetics" by Nicolas Bourriaud was a direct reaction of the art produced in the 1990s and served as a foundation text for the Catalytic exhibition.
