A mentor never passes on, he just pursues the next proposal.

When I worked for Rafael we worked 80+ hour weeks. A 60 hour week was like coasting. It was exhausting and yet exhilarating, and deeply rewarding. And Rafael was tireless and was willing to venture into unorthodox territory. He made no effort to do work which would appeal to everyone, he searched for enduring, and yet often uncomfortable expressions, and they didn’t always land with easy appeal, and I think in time this will cement an enduring legacy.

When I was a young gun, he met with me personally in an interview. I’ll never forget, it left an indelible impression. I soon after joined the firm and hit the ground running. Some new hires would last mere hours, some a few weeks. The tempo was not for everyone, but I rather enjoyed the intensity. From Rafael down, everyone ground out in a tireless pursuit of excellence.

I am a better designer for my time with Viñoly.

"Wind turbine wall" turns power generation into an aesthetic feature NYC-based designer Joe Doucet doesn't see why renewable energy generation shouldn't actively make a home more beautiful, so he's putting together a series of "kinetic walls" using rotary wind turbines to achieve some hypnotic visual effects.

A subject on many of our minds lately!

Design for the Future When the Future Is Bleak Amid pandemics and environmental disasters, designers and architects have been forced to imagine a world in which the only way to move forward is to look back.

Experimenting with creating a virtual show using 360 spherical panorama settings.

For those interested, this was created entirely flat, 2-dimensionally, first prepared in Illustrator, then in Photoshop with the last step bringing here to Facebook.

I found every demo on creating spherical 360 panoramas to only deal with photography and 360 camera images, but I wanted a way to layout a graphic design/gallery exhibition. I might have to create a how-to demo for others.
