Building stronger communities with SHIFT at the core: Support • Heal • Inspire • Flourish • Transform

Proud of these young men.

My son, a couple of his friends, and I volunteered with ABSWGLA for their fundraising drive, helping sort and move more than 3,000 pounds of donated items that will be turned in to Savers to support their fundraising efforts.

What stood out to me most wasn’t the amount collected. It was watching young people show up, work, help others, and understand that community service is something you participate in…not just something you talk about.

Service. Responsibility. Community.

That’s the kind of example I want them carrying forward.

A need was identified.
The community responded.
And now the resource is here.

Gentle Care has officially arrived at Stephens Middle School.

This washer and dryer will give school staff another resource to support students who may not always have consistent access to clean clothes.

Thank you to everyone who helped move this from a need to action.

Because dignity matters.

I’ve realized self-care isn’t always about rest. Sometimes it’s about having something in your life that reminds you that you’re a person outside of everything you do for everybody else.

For me, this is one of those places.

The community came through.

We put out the ask, and y’all answered.

Project X LB’s Gentle Care Program has officially secured a new washer and dryer for Stephens Middle School.

What I love most about this isn’t just the machines…it’s how it happened.

A need was identified.
We shared it.
The community showed up.

That’s community care.

Thank you to everyone who shared, reached out, made a connection, or helped make this possible.

Next stop: delivery.

Because dignity matters.

Growing up, there were times when I wore the same clothes for an entire week because my family couldn’t afford to wash as often as we needed. My mother was doing the best she could, but she didn’t fully understand what it felt like to sit in class worried that my clothes looked dingy, smelled, or had stretched out from being worn repeatedly.

That experience stays with me and it’s why this effort matters.

Stephens Middle School plans to wash approximately 15 loads each week, supporting students who may have limited access to laundry facilities because of housing instability, financial hardship, or other circumstances.

Clean clothes may seem like a small thing, but for a young person, they can mean dignity, confidence, and the ability to focus on learning instead of worrying about how others see them.

We believe P.E.A.C.E. shouldn’t stop at the park, it should follow our young people into their schools.

If you’d like to help Project X LB bring this resource to Stephens Middle School, send us a DM or contact [email protected].

Self care does not always look like rest.

Sometimes it looks like showing up for yourself. Moving your body. Clearing your head. Creating space to process what you have been carrying.

At Project X LB, we talk a lot about helping young people understand themselves and recognize what they need in order to move through the world in healthier ways. That same work applies to us as adults.

Support. Heal. Inspire. Flourish. Transform.

SHIFT is not just something we teach. It is a reminder that taking care of ourselves allows us to show up differently for our families, our work, and our communities.

Today, this is what taking care of me looked like.

You cannot pour peace into your community without creating some space for peace within yourself.

Peace in the Park was never meant to just be an event.

It was an idea about what can happen when we intentionally create space for peace, healing, joy, resources and connection.

West Long Beach showed us what that idea can become.

Nearly 300 people came together yesterday, and I’m still taking it all in.

To every partner, sponsor, volunteer, organization, vendor and neighbor who believed in the vision and helped bring it to life—thank you.

We’re building something.

West Long Beach, you showed up.

North Long Beach, you’re next.

This December, Peace in the Park is coming to Ramona Park.

Peace in the Park | Project X LB

KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED.

Today, nearly 300 people came together for PEACE IN THE PARK.

Families. Young people. Community partners. Volunteers. Neighbors. Friends.

What happened in that park was bigger than an event.

We created a space where our community could gather, breathe, laugh, play, connect, access resources, and simply be together.

To every person who showed up, volunteered, shared a resource, provided a service, sponsored, donated, told someone about the event, or trusted us enough to bring your family…Thank you.

Project X LB is growing because this community continues to believe that spaces like this matter.

There will be plenty more to share from the day, and I’ll personally thank everyone who helped make it possible in a video soon.

But for now, I just want our community to leave with the same message we carried throughout the park:

KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED.

“Handle me with care.”
“Do not judge.”
“Kind. Loyal. Honest.”

Today, our youth told us exactly who they are—and how they deserve to be treated.

Through our Care Tag activity, they turned reflection into expression… and expression into power.

Because when young people understand their value,
they stop settling for less.

We’re not just running programs.
We’re helping youth define themselves.

It’s official!!!

We’re proud to share that PXLB is partnering with the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) to bring V.i.B.e. (Voice, Identity, Belonging, Expression) Camp to life this summer.

What started as a vision… is now a real space.

For 3 weeks, teens will step into a museum environment to explore:
Art. Identity. Voice.

This is more than a camp.
It’s a space for self-expression, growth, and discovering who you are…through creativity and community.

From the community… to the museum.

And this is just the beginning.
