As the fires have settled down and the news coverage finds the newest “hot topic” Us Angelenos are beginning our rebuild and will be figuring out what this new landscape means for ourselves, friends and family. I love my city and feel so grateful to have been raised here. I’m truly inspired by the selflessness shown in the past month and have channeled that inspiration into my best form of ARTiculation. Although our landscape in not just LA county but Southern California as a whole is vast and spread out we are CONNECTED! As a LA native I have felt like even with donating and supporting how I’m able to, in this tragedy it’s never enough until our city is whole again. So I’ve created this hat to fundraise for the families who are directly affected by the wildfires. As much as the donations of hygiene/food/clothes are absolutely necessary I know that soon these families will need to rebuild and our dollars will help ease that burden. As an artist I usually use my art to articulate a message I don’t feel comfortable speaking into existence but this piece is different in the fact I hope all can understand that the pain we are still currently enduring here in Los Angeles we are already beginning our process of healing by coming together to share love, light and support. I’ve spent the last 2 years building the physical location of with the help of my art community. Juggling that new responsibility along with becoming a father for the first time I put my personal art largely on the back burner. Now that Environment has outgrown its birthplace and doesn’t require as much day to day footwork I have the mental capacity to start releasing my art again.
It feels like I’m starting over in a lot of ways, it’s extremely vulnerable to share these ideas, some of which have been in the tuck for so long I’m sick of looking at them. It’s also empowering to let go of the fear most artists face while giving insight into our minds and hearts and be rewarded by genuine love and support. I say all that to say I’ll be dropping a lot of fun, limited collections like this one at random so keep your eyes open collectors‼️
