• Skin Cancer Awareness month •

☀️Colorado - one of the sunniest states and also with the highest average elevation of any state - has the nation's highest per-capita rate of skin cancer. Melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer, is the fifth-most diagnosed cancer for men in Colorado and the sixth for women.

⚠️ Skin cancer awareness is a crucial topic for us dermatologists. Skin cancer affects nearly 5 million Americans every year. It is important to us that we educate our patients and community on the importance of early detection. We go even further by training primary care providers to better detect the signs of skin cancer among their patients to ensure early diagnosis. We also consider it our role to speak in the media to inform the general public and answer the most common questions people have regarding this topic.

➡️ We’d like to highlight for their very resourceful website for patients 🙏.

Seeing a dermatologist. 👩‍⚕️

Here are 5 good reasons why you should consider visiting a dermatologist:
1️⃣ You want to optimize your skincare routine but are overwhelmed by all the options out there.

2️⃣ You have several unchecked moles and a family history of melanoma.

3️⃣ You think you may be suffering from a skin disease but have never been clearly diagnosed.

4️⃣ You're suffering from a skin disease and are unhappy with your current treatment.

5️⃣ You're considering cosmetic procedures but are unsure what actually works or is safe specifically for you.

------
• What to expect during your visit? •

Your dermatologist may ask you questions about your health and family history. 👨‍👩‍👦

Depending on your reason for visit, they may also perform a full-body skin check for any skin cancer related growths. 🔍

🗣️ You can also discuss treatment options for any skin conditions you may have.

------
➡️Did you know that board-certified dermatologists are trained to diagnose and treat over 3000 skin, hair and nail diseases!?

🏥👩‍⚕️👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️All providers at SkinMed Institute are board-certified in dermatology and all possess other additional training related to their expertise!

Good question here ❔
The short answer: At least once a year to have your moles checked, especially here in sunny Colorado ☀️.

Of course if you have a persistent skin condition that hasn't been diagnosed yet, or if you have noticed a change in any of your moles we recommend that you schedule an appointment with one of our board-certified dermatologists to evaluate your skin 🗓️.

We take appointments for May. And yes, you can book online 📱.
