Tuesday march 15th the state will hear testimony on SB120. This bill would lift the ban on advertising discounted alcoholic beverages for foodservice establishments. Any restaurant owners that want to help call the NH Lodging and Restaurant Association at 228-9585.

Would you like to serve alcohol until 2am on New Year's Eve?
According to Chief Edwards of NH Liquor Enforcement, if you would like to extend your hours of service from 1:00 am to 2:00 am you simply need to send him a letter requesting the extension. Your letter should include your license number, name of the business and the date of the extension (January 1 2011) and the times.

Just got back from Cooperstown NY. I was with my son who was playing in a baseball tournament. We went to a restaurant one night and they had run out of ribs, burgers and wings. How does a restaurant that is within a mile of 1300 kids, not including family, run out of those items? Be aware of what is going on around your restaurant.

Whenever discussing alcohol safety training with staff make sure the conversations are documented, just in case an incident occurs. This is a good time to review alcohol safety rules since you may have college kids back from school working for you.
I just got word that last night the NH Committe of Confrence adopted the amendment to reduce the 3% rooms and meals tax that restaurant owners keep to 2%. This is certainly not the type of economy to be taking more money away from hard working restaurants. Please call your local senators and representatives and tell them to vote against this.
